People.Policy.Possibility.
Exploring the relationship between people, professional practice and public systems, and what we can learn, question and do differently.

Good conversations can change how we see the world.
I'm Nathanial-Elliot Coad, Founder and CEO of YOUTHOOD, a Social Work undergraduate and a contributor to conversations across social development, public policy, professional practice and systems change.
My work is concerned with how people and institutions understand one another, how established assumptions can be examined and how shared understanding can create possibilities for meaningful action.
More about my journeyConnecting experiences, institutions and ideas.
Different disciplines often encounter the same underlying questions. NEMCOAD is a space to examine the connections.
Understanding people before defining their problems.
Youth development, identity, opportunity, participation and the environments shaping people's lives.
What are we missing when we look at outcomes without understanding experiences?
Looking beyond what policy intends.
Public service reform, governance, institutional decision-making and the consequences of policy in practice.
Who shapes decisions, and who experiences their consequences?
Creating room for different possibilities.
Collective intelligence, reflective professional learning, collaboration and possibilities for improving existing approaches.
What could change if we questioned the assumptions beneath our approaches?
Not every contribution needs to be a new solution.
Sometimes the most valuable contribution is a better question, an overlooked perspective, or space for someone else to think.
My approach is to start with people, understand the wider system, challenge without oversimplifying and turn understanding into responsibility.
